Welcome back Rachel

June 2nd, 2014

The dissertation is bound and handed in and I have successfully entered the ‘adult world’. After a very exciting summer placement in 2013, I am thrilled to be back this year and working on four fabulous shows as Site Assistant. I am looking forward to kicking of the season with an event in Cardiff Millennium Stadium followed by being back in Penrohs for Wakestock Festival where I shall be keeping my fingers crossed for as sunny-a festival as last year!  Carrying on further North, Access All Eirias will be my second stadium show of the year, taking place in Parc Eirias Stadium with performances from Tom Jones and Jesse J. For my final event of the season I shall head (ever so slightly nervously) to Catton Park, Derbyshire to Bloodstock festival, where I am hoping the stories of pigs heads in toilets, stay as stories! Having jumped straight into helping with the planning of these shows, I am slowly getting to grips with the world of events and all in all a very exciting summer lays ahead!

Abi is back on board for a busy summer with SCPods

May 16th, 2014

Since completing her placement with SC Productions in January this year Abi has begun working as a freelance events professional and is now working on three very exciting events with SC Productions. 1)      Kings of Leon – Liberty Stadium, Swansea – 2nd July 2)      Paul Weller – Cardiff Castle – 24th July 3)      Merthyr Rock 2014 – Cyfartha Castle, Merthyr – 17th August Abi is acting as a Site Assistant to Ange and is thoroughly enjoying getting to grips with her first stadium show. With just 6 weeks until the move on to site for Kings of Leon there are lots of jobs to keep her busy; booking equipment, getting schedules drawn up, and thinking about how we are going to turn the home team changing rooms into luxurious backstage dressing rooms for the band! Her second show takes her back to the site where she worked as an assistant for National Theatre Wales’ Silly King’s production last December but this time round we are hoping for some lovely sunshiny weather for the Mod-father’s performance. And finally (for the moment) – Merthyr Rock 2014! Where some brilliant acts are set to fill Merthyr with some great tunes - including one of Abi’s teenage favourites ‘Reel Big Fish’. All in all, a very exciting first summer as an event professional!

Abi’s Blog

November 25th, 2013

Big welcome to Abi who is on a Placement with SC Productions over the next couple of months. Abi is site assistant for Ange on the National Theatre Wales’ Christmas show ‘Silly Kings’. This role will provide the last of four placements Abi is required to complete as part of her Stage and Event Management Masters degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. A little blog from Abi: I love a challenge, and I plan on using my time with SC Productions to do things that I have never done before! I’ll be going to my first Safety Advisory Group, receiving Fire Marshall training, and working in my first official site assistant role. It’s great to have the opportunity to be involved with a company like SC Productions especially with NOWIE on the horizon. After working on Silly Kings I’ll be looking to have a career in the events industry and working under the instruction of Sarah and her team and seeing the drive and passion they have after all their experiences in the event world – both good and bad – confirms to me that this is indeed my ideal job. As the saying goes ‘pick a job that you love and you’ll never work a day in your life’. At the moment we are sorting through all the pap
